A.R. Murugadoss
A.R. Murugadoss is an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter who predominantly works in the Tamil film industry. He is known for his action films mainly on social issues. In addition, he has worked in Telugu films and Hindi films. Murugadoss won the Filmfare Award for Best Director for his 2014 Tamil action drama Kaththi.
Murugadoss was born in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu, on September 25, 1974. He studied at the Government Higher Secondary School and Bishop Heber College in Tiruchirapalli. His first break in the film industry was as an assistant director of Ratchagan (1997).
Murugadoss made his directorial debut with the Tamil film Dheena (2001). The film was a critical and commercial success, and it established Murugadoss as a promising director. He followed up Dheena with a string of successful films, including Ghajini (2005), Aathi (2006), and Enthiran (2010).
Murugadoss’ films are known for their strong social commentary. He often tackles issues such as corruption, terrorism, and social injustice in his films.
