Kanika Kapoor

Kanika Kapoor, born on August 21, 1978, is an Indian singer known for her contributions to Bollywood playback singing. She was born and raised in Lucknow, India, and later moved to Mumbai in 2012 to pursue a career in singing.

Kapoor gained initial fame with her debut song “Jugni Ji” in 2012, which was a music video and became a commercial success. However, her breakthrough in Bollywood came in 2014 with the song “Baby Doll” from the film Ragini MMS 2. The song topped music charts and Kapoor received widespread acclaim for her singing style. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the song.

Following her success, Kapoor went on to deliver a series of hit songs in Bollywood. Some of her notable songs include “Lovely” and “Kamlee” from Happy New Year (2014), “Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan” from Roy (2015), “Desi Look” from Ek Paheli Leela (2015), “Premika” from Dilwale (2015), and “Da Da Dasse” from Udta Punjab (2016). Her melodious voice and peppy singing style made her popular among audiences, and she received several awards and nominations for her playback singing.

In March 2020, Kapoor faced controversy when she tested positive for COVID-19 after attending parties in Lucknow despite the Ministry of Health’s home quarantine advisory. A complaint was lodged against her for negligence.
